Eight days on this unique adventure safari will take you from South Africa into the vast expanse of Botswana where we spend a total of 4 nights. We will also travel from Botswana either to Zimbabwe (depending on the political situation) or Zambia for an overnight at the Victoria Falls. After a visit to the Falls we will return to Botswana, touch on the Chobe Game Park and then into the Caprivi Strip of Namibia. We will enjoy one night in Namibia before returning back to Botswana and we will stay over at the northern tip of the Okavango Swamps. From there we will travel to the southern most area of the Okavango Swamps for two nights before returning to South Africa with one further overnight stop in Botswana.  The lodges are all three-star+ and accommodation comprises of rustic chalets or tented camps with e-suite bathrooms. The restaurants offer local cuisine, specializing in African dishes. At certain times we will self-cater for the group. The trip will include much opportunity for game viewing (particularly in the northern parts of Botswana, Zimbabwe and the Caprivi Strip) as well as the spectacular sights of the Victoria Falls and also the mystery of the Okavango Swamps. The two main attractions for this tour are the Victoria Falls (which can be viewed either from the Zimbabwe or Botswana sides) as well as the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the latter being a unique phenomenon of nature where a complete river system literally disappears into the desert.

DAY 1:
Travel to Nata, Botswana.  With an early departure from Johannesburg we will make our way in a north-westerly direction through the rugged northern bushveld of South Africa before crossing the border into Botswana, travelling in air-conditioned 4x4 off-road vehicle. We will do a breakfast put your feet up. After crossing the border, we make our way northward to the town of Nata for our first dinner and overnight stop at Nata Lodge at the edge of the Makgadikgadi pans. This is a full day’s travel and the lodge will be a welcome put your feet up for weary travellers.

DAY 2:
Travel to Victoria Falls.  After an early breakfast we will depart for a real exciting day, travelling further Northward to the town of Kasane to cross the border. Depending on the political situation in Zimbabwe, we will either cross into that country to the town of Victoria Falls, or into Zambia to the town of Livingstone for our dinner and overnight stay. Dependant on the country selected, we arrive in time to book into our accommodation, if time allows some sight seeing before dinner and a cocktail. Note: Normally Zimbabwe is our preferred destination and is very safe for tourists. We will advise you on booking.

DAY 3:
Travel to the Caprivi strip.  After breakfast we will take in the Victoria falls and towards mid morning we will depart back to Botswana. After crossing the border, travelling westward through the Chobe National Park where we can expect to see so much wildlife. We then cross into Namibia and travel to Camp Kwando Lodge on the banks of the beautiful Kwando River where the tented camp overlooks the Kwando River. This lodge is located in the wild, untamed areas of the Linyanti region with an abundance of game.

DAY 4:
We take in a leisurely breakfast overlooking the Kwando River before travelling further westward through the Caprivi region before we swing southward back into Botswana. After crossing the border at Muhembo we travel south-easterly for a short distance to our destination at the top end of the Okavango Swamps, Located close to the town of Shakawe, we find Shakawe Lodge. The lodge is situated on the banks of the Okavango River where it is already several kilometres wide and accommodation will be in rustic chalets. This location is well known amongst the Birding community.

DAY 5:
After a reasonably early breakfast we leave Shakawe and travel further south, circumventing the Okavango Delta to reach the town of Maun. There we will book into the Audi Camp approximately 12 kilometres from Maun. We will spend two days here to ensure that we have sufficient time to visit this astonishing phenomenon called the Okavango Swamps. There may be time for a quick excursion into the swamps before dinner and a relaxing evening enjoying a glorious sunset and the African night sky. Accommodation will be in bedded tents.

DAY 6:
This full day at Audi Camp allows us sufficient time to explore the extraordinary splendour of the Okavango swamps at our leisure. There are one day drive in Mokoro (dug-out canoe) trips available at around US$100 per person which includes lunch. These trips are highly recommended as you really experience the environment and wildlife from close by. The scenery is absolutely spectacular as you are taken through a multitude of waterways by experienced guides.  Note: “Audi” means Fish Eagle so you can expect to see many of them there.

DAY 7:
After breakfast we depart from Audi camp and, travelling through the central parts of Botswana, we pass the northern tip of the immense Makgadikgadi Pans back to Nata for our last night in Botswana. Here we get the opportunity to take a well earned rest before the last leg of the trip back to Johannesburg.

DAY 8:
Departing from Nata after an early breakfast, we will take on the long trip back to Johannesburg. We will arrive in Gauteng by late afternoon / early evening and it would be preferable to stay over at a pre-arranged destination. If you are an international visitor arrange for your international- or connecting flight on the following day.
